Apple has reportedly finalised a substantial five-year agreement, valued at $750 million, to become the exclusive streaming home for Formula 1 in the United States, commencing in 2026. This move signifies a considerable investment by Apple, surpassing the $90 million annual fee currently paid by ESPN, the current rights holder in the US since 2018, whose deal concludes at the end of 2025.
According to Apple, the company aims to deliver Formula 1 programming with a "more dynamic and elevated viewing experience." Both Apple and Formula 1 are optimistic that the partnership will attract a broader audience and cultivate new motorsports enthusiasts within the American market in the coming years. This deal coincides with the rebranding of Apple's video-streaming service, initially launched in 2019 as Apple TV+, which will see the removal of the plus sign from its name.
This Formula 1 agreement further expands Apple's presence in the sports streaming sector, adding to existing deals with MLB (Major League Baseball) and Major League Soccer. Furthermore, the deal follows Apple's partnership with Formula 1 for the original film "F1 The Movie," starring Brad Pitt. "F1 The Movie" is set to debut on Apple TV on December 12, 2025.
